Job Vacancy: Accountant

Role Summary

The general purpose of this position is to perform a variety of professional level accounting duties involved in preparing, maintaining, analyzing, verifying, and reconciling complex financial transactions, statements, records, and reports under direct supervision. 

 

The Accountant maintains the accuracy of PalTrade's ledgers and financial systems; assists in the preparation of assigned budgets, annual audit, and year end closing.

Job Settings

Location: Ramallah with extended services to Gaza

Settings: Office

Duration : 12 months with possibility of extension

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily accounting and financial transactions.
  • Post all accounting transactions into the system.
  • Ensure all supporting documentation and approvals are present for payments.
  • Monitor and clear receivables and payables.
  • Maintain accounting records and files.
  • Assist with tax computations and returns.
  • Assist in budgets and forecasts.
  • Assist in preparing payroll each month and prepare salary receipts and payroll forms.
  • Prepare bank reconciliation.
  • Assist in the petty cash transactions.
  • Assist the Financial manager with income tax and banks issues.
  • Other duties as requested by the direct supervisor to ensure the efficient implementation of the department's role.

Relationships and Roles

  • Cooperate with PalTrade's staff.
  • Communicate with the banks and related ministries as requested.
  • Facilitate information and access to data during audits.

Job Specifications

  • Experience
    • 3 years of experience in similar duties
  • Education
    • University Degree (B.A.) in Accounting

Key Competencies

  • Excellent command of spreadsheets and financial programs.
  • Methods and techniques of analyzing general ledgers and preparing journal entries.
  • Principles and practices of financial record keeping and reporting.
  • Examine and verify financial documents and reports.
  • Work independently in the absence of supervision.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
